Ever been on one of those endless road trips where “Are we there yet?” becomes the soundtrack of your journey? Picture that, but for the entire transportation industry over these wild last four years. We’ve been riding through a global pandemic, hitting bumps and taking detours, and yeah, everyone’s been asking: “Are we there yet?”
In 2020 and 2021, everyone hit the gas at the same time. Freight was moving like there was no tomorrow; rates drove up as more drivers hit the road. Warehouses couldn’t keep up and were bursting at the seams with all the goods. Then, almost overnight, things took a nosedive. The pace dropped, inventory started collecting dust, and we were left wondering when the traffic was going to pick up again.
When Q4 2023 came around, we were all hyped for a big comeback, but… it ended up being more of a letdown. So, here we are now, asking the million-dollar question: “Have we hit rock bottom?”
There’s some chatter that growth is being shown across all major logistics categories for the first time since September 2019, hinting that Q1 2024 might just be the light at the end of the tunnel. Word on the street is that demand might finally start outrunning the number of trucks on the road – something we haven’t seen in a couple of years.

This whole journey has been one heck of a ride for the transportation world. And while “Are we there yet?” doesn’t have a simple yes or no answer, with some solid prep and the right moves, we’re for sure on our way to better days.
