Warehouse Supervisor Keith Tezino Works Hard But Plays Harder - Mar 2019

Our employees are the backbone of our success, and we strive to recognize them for the hard work they do for us and for our customers. We have many employees who go above and beyond every day, and we will continue to feature them as part of our ongoing effort to acknowledge their contributions and loyalty to WSI.
As part of this ongoing effort, we would like to recognize Keith Tezino.

Hard Work Pays Off

Keith currently works as a warehouse supervisor at WSI’s contract distribution facility in Montebello, California. This facility is dedicated to providing contract distribution services to one of WSI’s major customers in the Los Angeles area.

Tezino began his logistics career at a Home Depot distribution center, where he unloaded and palletized shipping containers from China. He left that job to start as a temporary worker for WSI in 2004, where his sole responsibility was the slabbing of rolls for packaging material. After three months, he became a lift truck operator, which he did for nearly two years until being hired on full time in that role in 2006. In 2012, Keith’s loyalty and dedication to WSI paid off in the form of a promotion.

“In 2015, I moved to the Client Service Representative (CSR) position after a vacancy opened up. I also became a lift operator trainer. At this point I have trained about 20 operators,” he says.

As a CSR lead, Keith’s leadership was critical to the success of a client’s transfer from an Eone Warehouse Management System to a JDA WMS. His leadership and knowledge of the JDA platform made the transition flawless and impressed internal WSI leadership and stakeholders from WSI’s client, Westrock. Additionally, Keith drew praise from Tryon Solutions, a system consultant on the project.

“If we had a Keith in all our go-lives for JDA, it would make our lives much easier and happier,” one of the consultants told us.

In December 2018, Keith’s skills, knowledge, and years of service were recognized again when he was promoted to warehouse supervisor. In this role, he collaborates with the onsite manager at the Montebello facility to update policies and monitor adherence to company and industry standards at the site.

“In my current position, I have come to enjoy the challenge of overcoming the learning curve,” Keith says. “There is a lot to learn here, with several systems operating and inventory moving in and out of the facility 24 hours a day.”

He enjoys the responsibility of the new role, where he can lead others as he helps to define and implement WSI processes and procedures at the Montebello distribution center. He also enjoys the opportunity to work closely with on-site teams and customers and shape those relationships on behalf of himself and the company.

With the recent promotion, Keith feels he has achieved his near-term goals. Long-term, however he hopes to use his experience to benefit other locations within the company.
“In the long term I would like to assist other facilities by performing project management duties, process refinement, and implementations that impact and improve many of our WSI facilities. My main goal would be to streamline processes and drive communication amongst all the facilities,” says Keith.

All Work and No Play

Outside of the office, Keith plays as hard as he works. He enjoys a wide range of outdoor activities, including fishing, zip lining, skydiving, and bungee jumping.
“I would like to begin training for a Trojan race or triathlon type of event,” he says.

He also spends a lot of time with his family as they frequent many of the region’s large parks, where he goes bike riding and hiking with his children.

Thank you, Keith, for your continued service to WSI. Your positive attitude, hard work, active outdoor lifestyle, and company leadership are inspiring to all of us. We’re looking forward to a long and successful future together.
