| About Warehouse Specialists | ||
History
Warehouse Specialists, Inc. ("WSI") was started in 1966 by six forklift drivers from a local paper mill. Since that time, WSI has transformed itself into one of the largest and most respected warehousing and distribution firms in North America.
An original 30,000 square foot warehouse in Combined Locks, WI, has grown to a firm with over
13 million square feet and over 40 facilities with locations throughout North
America.
Training
WSI employees are committed to the principles of Condition, Count and Time, an internally developed initiative designed to ensure that your products are delivered accurately and timely in a condition you expect. This philosophy has led WSI to the forefront of growth in an otherwise quiet economy.
Our managers complete extensive training and continuous education, including programs offered through the International Warehouse and Logistics Association (IWLA) and the Warehouse Education and Research Council (WERC). Professional education and development programs include: Total Quality Management and Six Sigma techniques, ISO 9000 training, Hazardous Materials training, quality circles, responsible care, continuous improvement programs and specialized customer certifications. All material handlers are certified and undergo annual re-certification and training for all their skill requirements. Providing the integral link between warehouse and customer is our staff of customer service representatives. These representatives provide the liaison that links warehouse/inventory information to the customer via our state of the art inventory management system. Customers can deal with WSI through customer service or by direct computer link. New Facilities
In addition to the facilities currently operated by WSI, we continue to develop new facilities each year. Our engineering and construction groups have designed dozens of facilities and sites for our customers. We can develop sites for customers anywhere in North America.
Transportation
WSI has grown to provide services to a diverse customer base. With annual movements of over 25,000 rail cars and 500,000 trucks system wide, WSI handles a wide variety of products including: paper/pulp, equipment, non-fat dry milk and canned goods, consumer goods, computer components and electronics, steel, wood products (plywood, etc.) and chemicals. Customers include the top companies in food, paper, chemicals, printing, building supply, steel, plastic and consumer goods.
The knowledge, skill and commitment of the WSI team are our most important assets. We take pride in our record and realize that without our employee's commitment to the Condition, Count and Time needs of our customers, WSI would not exist today. Maintaining our exemplary record will continue to earn the on-going business of each of our customers. « Back to Top
