Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

The primary task of the material handler is the safe and efficient operation of industrial powered clamp and fork trucks.

The basic responsibilities of the material handler include:

  • Remove finished and palletized product from the palletizer outfeeds and deliver it safely and in undamaged condition to a storage location within the building or directly to an outbound trailer Pick product from a warehouse storage location and deliver the product safely and in good condition to another designated storage location within the building or an outbound trailer
  • Inspect and receive product off inbound trailers for storage in the warehouse or delivery to another outbound trailer and report and rotate damage uncovered during the unload
  • Wrap loose product through the use of portable stretch wrap machine
  • Correctly utilize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to maximize personal efficiency and maintain effective inventory control in the movement of product throughout the building.
  • Seek out and pro-actively correct unsafe situations in the warehouse such as leaning or spilled product and repair damage
  • Inspect and maintain a neat and organized industrial truck free of trash, debris, and unnecessary items and immediately report any unsafe conditions
  • Reports to lead or supervisor any evidence of theft, safety violations, any evidence of alcohol or drug abuse, or any other violations of WSI policy or procedure
  • Meets all productivity and safety standards as communicated by WSI supervision
